Uzbekistan government said in a statement recently they will update and modernize state owned shoemaking enterprises with investment of 17.5 million U.S. dollars by the end of 2013.
The shoemaking strategic program is projected to enlarge the shoe production output to 8,292,000 pairs this year, with an increase of 2.4 times in production output compared with that in 2008, and with 1575 jobs added.
According to government official disclosed sources, a Footwear Design Research Center will be included in the strategic program, which is expected to complete its initiative building before January 2010; the center will focus research on footwear fashion trend and style, technology and information service, personel training, as well as foreign exchanges and cooperation.
In 2009 the Uzbekistan shoemaking industry is projected to export 4 million pairs of shoe according to its development program.
