The New York-based luxury retailer announced Thursday several leadership changes and promotions. Carolyn Biggs will be retiring from her position of EVP of stores on Jan. 31, 2009, Saks’ fiscal year end. Biggs, a 15-year veteran of the company, has held her current role since 2007, previously serving as SVP and director of stores for Saks in the northeast region, as well as nationally.
“Under Carolyn’s leadership, our stores have made significant progress in delivering a service experience that exemplifies Saks Fifth Avenue,” Steve Sadove, Saks Inc. chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “She has been a driver of clienteling and store environment improvements that have enhanced store productivity and profitability. We appreciate her years of service and we are grateful that she will remain with us over the next several months to work on a series of special projects. We wish her well in the future.”
Succeeding Biggs will be Jennifer de Winter, who currently holds the position of group SVP and GMM of jewelry, shoes, handbags and soft accessories. De Winter has been at Saks since 1995.
“Jennifer is an experienced leader with a proven reputation for collaborating and driving innovation and results. She and her team led the 10022-SHOE [floor] initiative and drove outsized growth in women’s shoes, accessories and jewelry during the last two years. Her skill set and background make her ideal to assume the responsibilities of her new post,” said Sadove said.
Other promotions include Cody Kondo, SVP and GMM for menswear, home, food and gifts, who will succeed de Winter. Tom Ott, VP and DMM of men’s tailored clothing and personal furnishings, will succeed Kondo. De Winter, Kondo and Ott will all report to Ron Frasch, president and chief merchant of Saks Fifth Avenue. |
